Prevention over cure: Minister reviews dengue prevention

The town administrators attended the meeting and told the minister that all the areas were being regularly fumigated.

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Archives Mohammad Rafiq Engineer chaired over a meeting at the office of Pakistan Peoples Party in Lyari to review arrangements for prevention of dengue fever in the town. The town administrators attended the meeting and told the minister that all the areas were being regularly fumigated. They also said that they were vigilant for immediate identification of infected people and providing them with treatment and diagnostic facilities. Engineer also reviewed final arrangements for the anti-polio campaign to be launched on September 19.

Karachi is affected after heavy rains and it usually happens in August. The outbreak starts near Malir river and Malir Cantt (green zone with fresh water). Lyari does not have fresh water. This mosquitoe is not found in costal water. it likes clean water.
