The body of cab driver Hussain, who went missing after a car was swept away by a flooded stormwater drain in Lane 4, Range Road during heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning, was recovered from the Soan River near Dhok Bawa, on the boundary of Rawat and Saddar Bairuni police jurisdictions.
According to details, the deceased was identified by his brother-in-law and other relatives through a thread bracelet he wore on his wrist and his bearded face.
The tragic incident occurred three days ago when a woman schoolteacher from Afshan Colony booked a ride via an online cab service to travel to her workplace.
During Wednesday morning's downpour, the vehicle got caught in a sudden flood near Lane 4, Westridge, and was swept away.
The teacher's body was later found near Bhosa Godam within the Ratta Amral police limits. The car, in a dilapidated state, was recovered a short distance from Lane 4, partially submerged in the drain. However, the driver, Hussain Muawiya, had been missing since the incident.
Rescue 1122 and Westridge police launched a joint search operation for two days.
