Private colleges have been selling seats for ‘donations’ of up to Rs2.5 million, said YDA office bearers in a press release.
“They increased the quota of overseas seats from 15 to 30 and have been admitting students of low merit on them,” they said.
The doctors accused the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) of covering up the irregularities committed by private colleges. They said the fact that private colleges were advertising seats and conduct their own admissions process was “a matter of great concern for the public and doctors’ community”.
They said that the UHS, which already handles admissions to public medical and dental colleges, should control which students get admitted to the 2,100 seats available in the 21 private medical colleges in the province, as it would select the students with the best academic records. The YDA also appealed to students not to pay more that Rs500,000 in fees at private colleges, as this was the maximum fee allowed by the PMDC.
“If any institution charges more than this we will take action against them through a court of law,” said the press release, which was signed by Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Aslam Rao and Dr Muhammad Khawar Khan.

Yes this is true .... And with the passage of time, due to the inrease in the number of private medical colleges are having a making a bigger lobby in PMDC.
