A major fire that broke out early Wednesday at Millennium Mall on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi was brought under control after more than four hours, officials said.
The fire started on the roof of the building and spread to the fourth and third floors, which house garment shops, according to Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan. He said the operation faced delays due to a shortage of water.
A total of eleven fire engines and two snorkels were involved in the firefighting efforts. Flames were also reported on the second and first floors, though with less intensity.
Rescue officials confirmed that the roof and third floor sustained significant damage, affecting both shops and offices.
Residents of a nearby residential building were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The residential complex remained unharmed, officials added.
The fire was fully contained after approximately four and a half hours.
