Construction of the dual carriageway in Pind Dadan Khan, District Jhelum, has been dragging on for four years with little visible progress, leaving local residents mired in dust, pollution, and frustration.
The painfully slow pace of work has created hazardous living conditions. Clouds of dust blanket the area, contributing to respiratory illnesses such as asthma and other breathing problems.
Locals say the incomplete road has not only disrupted their daily lives but also severely affected public health and environmental conditions.
"There's hardly any progress. Not even ten percent of the work is done," lamented a resident while talking to The Express Tribune. "We feel abandoned. What wrong have we done to deserve this ongoing misery?"
Despite the allocation of funds and the presence of several government representatives from the region, including federal minister Bilal Azhar Kiyani, the project remains stalled.
The delay has turned nearby villages into dust-filled zones, causing a decline in the quality of life and economic activity.
