RAWALPINDI:

An additional district and sessions court has awarded death sentences to four convicted prisoners and imposed collective fine to the tune of Rs2 million, and compensation of Rs500,000 each in the high-profile case of a juvenile prisoner, who was brutally murdered in Adiala Central Jail after being gang-raped.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ejaz Sufi awarded each of the four convicts to one death sentence for the crime of gang rape and another death sentence for the crime of murder, totaling eight death sentences for the four convicts.

In its ruling, the court stated that the four convicts shall be "hanged by the noose until death occurs," emphasising the extreme brutality committed against the minor prisoner in Adiala Jail.

Saddar Bairuni police had registered a murder cum rape case on January 1, 2024, following a complaint from the Superintendent of Adiala Jail. According to the record, the four convicts Naqash, Waqas, Bilal Riaz, and Asif, gang-raped Sabeel son of Karamat, who was incarcerated in Adiala Jail.
