
The Sindh government has decided to allocate a substantial budget for the purchase of buses and electric vehicle (EV) taxis and scooters in the upcoming fiscal year 2025-26.
A crucial meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department was held in Karachi, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kamal Dayo, CEO Trans Karachi Fawad Ghaffar Soomro, and other officers. A comprehensive review of various projects under the Transport and Mass Transit Department was conducted during the meeting, including the Peoples Bus Service and EV scooters. The meeting also discussed the establishment of charging infrastructure for EVs at various locations.
A detailed briefing was also given on the projects for the fiscal year 2024-25, and a comprehensive discussion was held on the proposed projects for the next fiscal year. The Sindh Mass Transit Authority briefed Memon on the public-private partnership model, where various investors are launching bus services.
