Netflix has officially unveiled the first plot synopsis for Stranger Things Season 5 via its TUDUM blog, confirming long-awaited details about the final chapter of the beloved series.
The synopsis hints at a dark and challenging path ahead as the story returns to the haunting roots of Hawkins.
"Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time."
This final season appears to draw a full circle, revisiting the emotional and thematic core of the show while escalating the danger to unprecedented levels.
Among the cast, the core four, including Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo, return alongside Millie Bobby Brown.
Other returning cast members include Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Amybeth McNulty, Cara Buono, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Priah Ferguson.
Co-creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer also revealed new cast members, including Nell Fisher, Alex Breaux, Jake Connell, and Linda Hamilton.
