
At least 10 people lost their lives and 30 others sustained injuries in various rain and windstorm-related incidents across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa over the past five days, according to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The deceased included five men, three women, and two children. Among the injured were 13 men, 10 women, and seven children.
According to PDMA report, a total of 34 houses were damaged due to the stormy weather - 24 were partially damaged, while one was completely destroyed.
The incidents occurred in multiple districts, including Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Shangla, Swat, Torghar, Mohmand, Mansehra, Bajaur and Haripur.
The PDMA has directed the respective district administrations to provide immediate assistance to the affected families and ensure the injured receive the best possible medical treatment.
At least five people lost their lives and 14 others were injured in separate incidents during a powerful storm accompanied by heavy rain that struck parts of Mardan, Dargai, and Mohmand districts on Thursday.
According to the report from Rescue 1122, violent winds and torrential rain caused widespread damage across various areas of Mardan - including Katlang Qasmi, Akhund Baba, Bakhshali, Islamabad Kalay Takht Bhai, Peshkando Rustam, Mangah, and Jabal Madrassa. Multiple incidents of collapsed walls, gates, blocks, and fallen trees were reported.
In Takht Bhai's Islamabad Kalay area, a roof collapse claimed the lives of a mother and daughter. Their bodies were transported to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital by local transport.
In Katlang Qasmi, a 60-year-old woman, wife of Hussain Badshah, was injured when a wall collapsed and she was shifted to the Type-D Hospital.
Two children sustained serious injuries in a wall collapse in Akhund Baba and were taken to MMC Hospital.
In Islamabad Kalay, a child sustained critically injuries after being struck by falling concrete blocks and was transferred to THQ Hospital.
More incidents of injuries were reported in various other locations as 15-year-old Abdul Salam was injured in a wall collapse on the Bakhshali Chamdhairi Road.
Three individuals were injured in a similar incident in Mangah. A 40-year-old woman was critically hurt in Peshkando Rustam. All were shifted to MMC Hospital for treatment.
In Jabal Madrassa, a 38-year-old woman, wife of Bakht Munir, was injured when a gate collapsed on her.
