Rain and hailstorms in various areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have resulted in flash floods in streams and rivers, damaging crops and vehicles.
At least eight people were injured due to a lightning strike in Charsadda on Friday. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert for the Kabul River and its tributaries.
PDMA has also canceled Saturday and Sunday weekend leaves of concerned officers in case of emergency.
Heavy rain and hailstorms are expected in the next 24 hours in mountainous and central districts of the province.
On Friday, thunderstorms, strong winds, rain, and hailstorms occurred in Chitral, Khyber, Charsadda, and Swabi. Heavy rain caused water levels in streams to rise, damaging several houses, crops, and orchards in Lower Chitral.
Three houses were severely affected by floodwaters in Koor, Brauz, and passengers and vehicles were stranded due to closure of Chitral-Peshawar road.
Local volunteers and rescue teams are relocating passengers and patients to safer places. NHA is conducting operations to restore the road.
Storms, thunderstorms, and hailstorms damaged crops and shattered car windows in Khyber tribal district. Rain and hailstorms damaged tobacco and other crops in Swabi.
