Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the Anti-Terrorism Court has taken serious notice of the alleged fake police encounter in the Rawat area, where a young man, Waheed alias Waheedi, was allegedly killed two days ago.
The judge issued show-cause notices for contempt of court to two police inspectors, questioning why the judiciary was used to provide cover for what appears to be an extrajudicial killing.
The court also questioned why the two officers, reportedly backed by the city police officer (CPO) and SP Operations, should not face criminal proceedings for their involvement.
The judge asked why legal warrants were obtained if the actual intent was to kill the suspect in a staged encounter. He warned that the use of court authority to legitimise such killings would not be tolerated.
