Moon-sighting panel convenes today

Eid-ul-Azha is likely to be celebrated across Pakistan on June 7.

ISLAMABAD:

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet in Islamabad today (Tuesday) for the sighting of the Zilhaj moon.

According to the announcement, the birth of the new moon for Zilhaj is expected to occur on May 27. Based on this, Eid-ul-Azha is likely to be celebrated across Pakistan on June 7.

The moon-sighting meeting will be chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

In addition to the central meeting in Islamabad, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also convene simultaneously at their respective regional headquarters to observe the crescent for Eid-ul-Azha.
