
Social media platform ‘X’ – formerly known as Twitter – is experiencing a large-scale service disruption, affecting users in Pakistan and several other countries.
The sudden disruption occured around 6 PM today, leaving thousands of users unable to access their feeds or send messages.
According to outage tracking site DownDetector, over 2,300 users reported issues at the peak of the glitch. The platform was briefly down on both desktop and mobile, sparking frustration across the internet.
The global internet monitoring organization NetBlocks also confirmed that the disruption is international in scope and not related to any country-level internet service blocking or filtering.
Users of the platform faced multiple issues, including problems signing in and delays in receiving direct messages. Although services are resuming gradually, the company has not yet issued an official statement explaining the cause. Additionally, many users reported encountering broken links during the disruption.
Pakistan Telecom regulator also confirmed the disruption on Saturday, saying the popular social media platform is currently experiencing a large-scale service disruption in Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), this disruption which occurred following a global issue is being experienced in several other countries.
‘X’ had also faced service disruptions on Thursday (May 22), which lasted for several hours before the platform restored it on its own.

PTA further clarified that investigations revealed no technical issues with Pakistan's internet gateways, and that all other internet services across the country are functioning normally.
PTA added that it is continuously monitoring the situation and will provide the public with updates as they become available.
