Pakistan has announced its squad for the forthcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, which was officially agreed upon by both cricket boards on 20 May.
The decision followed successful high-level talks between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Nazmul Abedin and President Faruque Ahmed.
The Bangladesh national team will visit Pakistan to play all three matches at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium, with the full schedule expected to be announced soon.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his gratitude to the Bangladeshi cricket leadership, saying, “We are grateful to the BCB leadership for their trust and cooperation. This series is another positive step in strengthening cricketing ties between our nations.”
Ahead of the series, Pakistan’s selection committee has named a 16-member squad based on impressive performances during the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, which ends on 25 May.
This series will also mark the first international assignment for Pakistan’s newly appointed head coach Mike Hesson.
Salman Ali Agha continues as captain with Shadab Khan as vice-captain, leading a balanced squad that combines experienced campaigners with emerging talents.
Pakistan’s 16-member squad for the Bangladesh T20I series:
Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan (wicket-keeper), Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan (vice-captain).
It is interesting to note that veterans Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan continue to miss out in the T20I squad. Babar is currently ranked 8th in T20I batsman rankings, while Rizwan is ranked 12th.
