The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has imposed a ban on plastic billboards and banners in the federal capital, opting to introduce eco-friendly and modern digital streamers.
The decision was made during a meeting held on Monday at the CDA headquarters, chaired by CDA Chairman, Islamabad Chief Commissioner, and DG Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Members of the admin department, Finance, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad CEO, DMA Director and other senior CDA officials were present.
The meeting reached a consensus to discourage plastic-based advertising and promote digital 3D advertisements across key areas of Islamabad. These new digital streamers will be installed on major highways and in commercial centres.
Randhawa also directed the installation of digital screens at metro and electric bus stations. He instructed authorities to take legal action against wall chalking on both residential and commercial buildings, emphasising the need to keep all roads, underpasses, and flyovers free from such defacement.
