Several people were feared missing on Friday after a passenger car plunged into the Panjkora River following a collision with a coach in Khyber-Pakhtunwa province's Upper Dir district, local officials said.

The crash occurred in the Charkum area of Upper Dir district, where the vehicle skidded off the road and into the fast-moving river following the impact.

Rescue teams and volunteers rushed to the site and began searching for the submerged vehicle and those believed to be trapped inside.

According to officials, at least six people injured in the accident were moved to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Footage shared on social media shows the car being swept downstream, while bystanders watched helplessly from the riverbank. The number of occupants in the car remains unconfirmed.

Rescue efforts are continuing under difficult conditions, with strong river currents and fading daylight hampering progress.
