
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif initiated the 'Youm-e-Tashakur Marka-e-Haq celebrations by hoisting the national flag along with the provincial ministers.
Advisers, special assistants and senior provincial government officials attended the ceremony.
A contingent of Punjab Police presented a salute, the national anthem was played and tribute was paid to the martyrs and prayers offered.
Ceremonies to mark the day were organised across Punjab. After the Fajr prayers, the citizens prayed for the security, integrity and peace of the country. Prayers were also offered for the speedy recovery of the soldiers and citizens injured due to Indian aggression.
Flowers were placed at the graves of the martyrs and the national flag was hoisted on government and private buildings.
Rallies were also organised along with ceremonies in schools, colleges and universities.
The chief minister congratulated the nation on the occasion.
She said, "The brave and valiant pilots of the Pakistan Air Force crushed the arrogance of the enemy.
We profoundly thank Allah Almighty for the glorious victory of. our brave armed forces."
She added, "We encourage and support peace but will give a befitting reply to any aggression on our dear homeland."
Meanwhile, Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi also met Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and held a comprehensive discussion on launching Punjab's first bullet and high-speed train projects.
She outlined, "Today's Pakistan is in strong hands and the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its armed forces and institutions.
The solution to the enormous challenges being faced by the country lies in political stability, national unity and continuity of progress."
She highlighted, "Time has come to provide world-class travel facilities to the people of Punjab.
The bullet train and modern railway network will create new opportunities for economic activities, generate employment along with providing travel convenience to the citizens."
