New claims have emerged in the ongoing legal saga of Tory Lanez, the rapper currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
At a recent press conference held by advocacy organization Unite the People, Lanez’s legal team shared statements they say come from Bradley James, a man they identify as the former bodyguard of Kelsey Harris, Megan Thee Stallion’s ex-friend and key witness in the case.

According to Walter Roberts, legal consultant for Unite the People, James allegedly told them that Harris admitted to being the person who fired the weapon during the July 2020 incident in Los Angeles. These statements have not yet been independently verified or formally submitted to the court, and no official response has been made by law enforcement or the district attorney regarding the claims.
Tory Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted in December 2022 on charges including assault with a semiautomatic firearm. He was sentenced in August 2023 to 10 years in prison. His legal team has since filed appeals seeking to overturn the conviction, arguing issues with how the trial was handled.
The trial featured conflicting witness accounts, with Kelsey Harris testifying under a grant of immunity. Independent witness Sean Kelly previously testified that he saw two women fighting before the gunfire began, which has been cited by Lanez’s defense in their efforts to shift the narrative.
While the new statements have attracted media attention, there is currently no official indication that they will affect Lanez’s conviction or lead to a reopening of the case. His legal team, however, remains committed to challenging the outcome through the appeals process.
