Brooklyn Beckham has broken his silence about father David Beckham, amid reports of a growing family rift, according to The Sunday Times.
Speaking at the Formula E Evo Sessions in Miami in March, Brooklyn recalled how racing helped him bond with his father. “It’s something that me and my dad bonded over,” he told The Sunday Times. He added that David’s prized possession is a 1954 Jaguar, which he rarely drives unless the weather is perfect.
The comment comes as tensions within the Beckham family continue to attract media attention. Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz were notably absent from David’s 50th birthday celebrations last week, despite reportedly cancelling plans to attend the Met Gala. The Mail also reported that Romeo Beckham’s girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, has allegedly become a scapegoat in the ongoing tensions.
Sources cited by The Sun claim David Beckham is eager to mend ties with his eldest son, fearing a repeat of his own estrangement from his father, Ted Beckham. The two were not on speaking terms for several years, only reconciling after Ted suffered a health scare in 2007.
In a 2024 episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, David revealed he only received his father’s approval after earning 100 England caps. Despite winning multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy, he said Ted never told him he’d “made it” until that milestone.
According to The Sun, Victoria Beckham has also been deeply affected. One source claimed she has had “sleepless nights” over the situation. The family has not issued any public comment.
