Netflix has released a new teen drama Forever, inspired by Judy Blume’s well-known novel and adapted by Mara Brock Akil. Set in Los Angeles, the series stars Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr. as Keisha Clark and Justin Edwards—two high school seniors exploring first love, identity and the pressures of growing up.

Simone plays Keisha, a focused track athlete and top student aiming for a scholarship at Howard University. She’s also dealing with the stigma from her former school and a complicated family history. Cooper Jr. takes on the role of Justin, the grounded son of a wealthy family, passionate about basketball and music but unsure of his future.

The cast includes Xosha Roquemore as Shelly, Keisha’s hardworking single mother; Karen Pittman as Dawn Edwards, Justin’s ambitious mother; and Wood Harris as Eric, his more relaxed father. Barry Shabaka Henley plays Keisha’s grandfather George, a steady presence in her life, while Marvin Lawrence Winans III portrays Justin’s cheeky younger brother, Jaden.

Other notable cast members include Niles Fitch as Darius, Justin’s best friend who questions Keisha’s past, and Ali Gallo as Chloe, Keisha’s loyal friend from her old school who reconnects the couple.

The series balances emotional realism with coming-of-age tension, offering a fresh interpretation of Blume’s 1975 classic for a new generation. With layered storytelling and strong performances, Forever joins Netflix’s growing lineup of youth-centred dramas.

Forever is now streaming on Netflix.
