In light of Indian aggression and targeting of civilian populations, Rawalpindi police have set up a district-level emergency control room to ensure swift coordination and force response during any potential emergencies.
The decision was taken before India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire.
The new "internal security" control room, operational 24/7, has been established within the existing Command and Control Centre at the CPO office.
As per the plan, officers will work in three shifts to monitor and respond to any developing situations.
Following Indian hostilities, all security agencies in Rawalpindi were placed on high alert.
Acting on the orders of CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani, the dedicated internal security control room was made fully equipped with wireless, telephone, and other communication tools.
Supervised by a DSP (Legal), each shift in the control room included two officers under the supervision of a sub-inspector.
The facility was responsible for monitoring peace and security across the district and taking immediate action when necessary.
Officials emphasised that if enemy drones or aircraft are seen flying, hovering, or crashing within district boundaries, the control room was mandated to immediately alert senior authorities. Security has also been heightened at sensitive installations and key buildings across Rawalpindi, with police patrols continuing throughout the city.
