We escalated to force them into de-escalation, and eventually into ceasefire - essentially meaning our victory, evident from the whole nation erupting in celebration. Pakistan, by exercising its right to retaliate, after extreme restraint for days to unprovoked aggression, finally pounded India just before dawn on Saturday deep inside its territory, hitting at least 12 strategic destinations.
That lethal response was an instant reprisal for India's Friday night attack on Pakistan's Nur Khan Airbase at Rawalpindi, apart from incursions at several other military installations including Murid (Chakwal) and Rafiqui (Jhang), which were widely intercepted by a superior air defence system at work.
Pakistan's military thrust, 'Bunyan-un-Marsoos', i.e. a solid structure, in retribution to 'Sindoor', made India bleed all the way. Reports, substantiated by Indian media itself, say that a storage site of the Brahmos missiles in Beas region was destroyed, and Pakistan struck lethally at Uri field depot, Akhnoor aviation base, an artillery position at Dehrangyari as well as Udhampur, Pathankot, Suratgarh, Sirsa and Bhatinda airfields.
After downing more than 77 Israeli-made Indian projectiles, Pakistan sent its drones that were seen scrambling the skies of New Delhi and Gujarat, as PAF's JF-17 Thunder's hypersonic missiles destroyed S-400 system in Adampur. Adding to that were cyberattacks on several national grids and hacking of strategic websites. All put together constituted a comprehensive response to India's berserk jingoism and the fake media campaign that it ran a day ago amusing its citizens with a 'run-over' on Pakistan.
With the escalation continuing to grow, there was all the fear of the ongoing limited conventional conflict — that had already graduated into strategic signaling — leading to use of tactical nuclear weapons. That would be no less than plunging two billion people of the region in the nexus of extinction, merely owing to their incapability to overcome geostrategic fissures.
The rising escalation — threatening the oft-cautioned mutually assured destruction — finally triggered some serious diplomatic activity led by none other than the President of the United States of American himself. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, spoke to the two sides, on behalf of President Donald Trump, managing to bring the two sides back from the brink.
Thus came to an end India's miscalculated, hubris-laden military misadventure. It's no overstatement that the four-day encounter culminated into Pakistan's victory on all fronts — military, diplomatic, media, ethics, etc. To top it all, a ceasefire on the US intervention means Delhi's acceptance of third-party mediation on bilateral issues, as well as its agreement to begin talks on a range of issues, of course including Kashmir — something that it has kept on evading on the flimsy pretext of terrorism patronage on the part of Pakistan in line with its no-so-covert hegemonic designs.
While it's a win-win scenario for Pakistan, there is need for some homework to be done on certain agenda items, before going into "formal talks" with India on a "neutral venue", as agreed in the teletalk with Rubio.
These agenda items should include: proposing a framework of engagement to be resorted to in the aftermath of a terrorist activity; forcing an immediate rollback of IWT suspension; and bringing Kashmir back in the gamut of talks as the core issue afflicting the two sides. Apart from that, Pakistan also needs to raise its power potential as a nation by putting its own our house in order — in terms of the economy and political harmony.
Congratulations, meanwhile, to the whole nation on a great triumph.
Long live Pakistan!
