Authorities in Rawalpindi have ordered a complete blackout in all private housing societies amid heightened security concerns following recent airstrikes that targeted multiple civilian areas, Express News reported.

According to an official notification issued by the city administration, the blackout will remain in effect from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am until further notice.

“All street lights must remain switched off during the night,” the notification stated. “Residents are also instructed to turn off all exterior lights, including those in porches and driveways.”

The administration has further directed citizens to cover windows completely, minimise indoor lighting, and refrain from unnecessary travel during blackout hours.

The precautionary measures are aimed at reducing visibility from the air and ensuring public safety in light of the current volatile security situation.

Officials urged cooperation from residents, noting that these steps were essential for national security during a period of elevated regional tensions.
