The port city experienced hot and humid weather on Tuesday, with the high humidity making temperatures feel more intense than they actually were.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), hot conditions prevailed due to dry northeasterly winds blowing from Tharparkar and the suspension of the sea breeze from the southwest. The maximum temperature recorded in the city was 38°C, with humidity levels reaching 47 percent - a combination that significantly increased the "feels-like" temperature during the afternoon.
The Early Warning Centre of the Met Office has forecast hot and humid conditions to persist in Karachi on Wednesday and Thursday. However, the sea breeze is expected to fully resume during this period.
Meanwhile, under the influence of a western weather system, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning was reported in Makli and Thatta. In rural Sindh, Jacobabad recorded the highest temperature on Tuesday at 41°C.
For Wednesday, PMD said, temperatures were expected to be slightly lower, with daytime highs between 36 and 38°C, and nighttime lows between 27 and 29°C.
Morning humidity was forecast between 70% and 80%, while evening levels would be around 50% to 60%. Winds would continue from the south/southwest the weather synopsis said.
On Thursday, too, PMD, said the maximum temperature may range between 35 and 37°C, with minimum temperatures again expected to fall between 27 and 29°C. However, high humidity levels at 70% to 80% may increase the real feel of the heat.
