Seven servicemen were martyred when terrorists belonging to an India-sponsored outlawed Baloch terrorist group detonated a homemade bomb in Kachhi district of Balochistan, the military's media wing said on Tuesday.

“On 6 May 2025, terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, [the] so-called ‘Baloch Liberation Army’ targeted a security forces’ vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the general area Mach, Kachhi District,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. “Resultantly, seven brave sons of soil embraced Shahadat.”

The martyrs have been identified by the ISPR as 42-year-old Subedar Umar Farooq, resident of Karachi; 28-year-old Naik Asif Khan, resident of Karak district; 28-year-old Naik Mashkoor Ali, resident of Orakzai district; 26-year-old Sepoy Tariq Nawaz, resident of Lakki Marwat district; 28-year-old Sepoy Wajid Ahmed Faiz, resident of Bagh district; 22-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Asim, resident of Karak district; and 28-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Kashif Khan, resident of Kohat district.

“Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorist present in the area,” the ISPR said, adding that perpetrators of this henious and cowardly act will be brought to justice.

“The security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,” it further stated. “Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”

The ISPR said that the “nefarious designs of India and its proxies operating on Pakistani soil will be defeated by the valiant security forces, LEAs and the brave nation of Pakistan, InshaAllah.”

Civil and military officials have repeatedly said that India has been fomenting terrorism in Balochistan as part of its attempts to destablise Pakistan and that the Baloch separatist terrorist groups, especially the BLA, are being bankrolled, armed, and trained by New Delhi.

In 2016, an Indian intelligence operative Kulbhushan Jadhav was arrested in Balochistan in a complex operation who later admitted in a video confession that he had been involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan and elsewhere in Pakistan.

Late last month, the Pakistan diplomatic mission to the United Nations said that Islamabad had “credible evidence” proving that the Jaffar Express train attack was “externally sponsored by its regional adversaries”. The Jaffar Express was hijacked on March 11 by BLA terrorists in which dozens of passengers were killed.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan was more specific when he told a news briefing that intercepted communications revealed that India was involved in the brazen attack through “handlers and ring leaders” based in Afghanistan.

Pakistan has seen a surge in terrorist violence since the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan in August 2021. Pakistani officials believe that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, an outlawed umbrella of terrorist groups responsible for much of the bloodshed in the country, has developed a symbiotic relationship with the BLA and other terrorist groups to sow chaos.

This has been corroborated by the fact that Pakistan ranked 10th on the Global Terrorism Index released by the Global Terrorism Database in 2022, but climbed to the second place in the 2025 index, showing the sharp deterioration of security situation in the country.

On April 29, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry shared with the media what he called “irrefutable evidence”, including intercepted audio recording of Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan. He said that Indian army officers were operating a terror network, providing IEDs, explosives, and funds to militants. “This irrefutable evidence is just one small part of India’s state-sponsored terrorism,” he added.
