Flood warning for Badin lifted, victims still waiting for relief

Many areas still flooded, PDMA says more than 64,000 affected in Hyderabad alone.

The flood warning issued earlier for Badin was reportedly lifted as the water started to recede from submerged areas. However, food and water is still scarce for hundreds and thousands of people stranded in the province, reported Express 24/7.

Many areas are still flooded including Mirpur Khas, Degree, Jhado, No Kot, Tando Muhammad Jan, Pangrio and Malkani Sharif.

Gastroenteritis and malaria is on the rise among the flood victims.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that more than 64,000 people have been affected by rains in the Hyderabad district.

The crops, on an estimated area of 199,000 acres, have also been inundated by the rain water.

According to a report published by the PDMA Sindh, 11 people including two children and two women lost their lives in rain-related accidents in Hyderabad.

Moreover, more than 1,000 villages have been affected due to heavy rain.

At least 552 houses were inundated while more than 3,000 houses were partially damaged across the district.

The report said that seven relief camps were set up in Hyderabad while 3,383 affected persons have been accommodated in the camps.

Water rises in Mangla Dam

At least 100,000 cusecs of water was released in the Mangla Dam from the River Jhelum, raising the water level more than required.

The water level at the Jhelum bridge is 12,10 feet while the inflow of water is 148,000 cusecs.

The authorities issued warning to vacate the adjoining villages of River Jhelum, and boats were sent for the safe vacation of the locals.

Relief camps were also set up in Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan.
