
A review meeting for the ongoing April anti-polio campaign in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Secretary Health, Coordinator of the Provincial Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers, and District Health Officers, National EOC officials also attended the meeting via video link.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was provided on the four-day status of the anti-polio campaign, focusing on coverage, data-driven comparisons, and challenges encountered.
The Provincial EOC Coordinator informed the meeting that the influencer-led model, where local elders and influential people are assisting the polio campaign, is successfully improving coverage in various areas.
The forum reviewed the status of daily evening review meetings conducted by district administrations.
The Chief Secretary stated that he is personally monitoring the campaign's progress daily and emphasized that all Deputy Commissioners, District Health Officers must attend the evening review meetings. He also reviewed the 276 Union Councils (UCs) that have been identified as challenging areas.
The meeting was informed that the final two days of the campaign will focus on covering all missed children, with strict monitoring protocols in place to ensure no child is left unvaccinated. The Chief Secretary noted that there's always room for improvement and instructed Deputy Commissioners to focus on micro-plans. He also directed all districts to critically review and analyze the performance of the April campaign, gather feedback from ground teams, and plan accordingly for the next campaign. Additionally, he emphasized that post-campaign coverage will continue for children missed due to any reason.
