The recent heat spell affecting Karachi has subsided, but the Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that much of Sindh province may face another bout of extreme heat from April 24 to 29.
According to the Early Warning Centre, Karachi is expected to experience warm and increasingly humid conditions over the next three days, Express News reported.
The maximum temperature in the city could reach 39°C on Wednesday and hover around 38°C on Thursday and Friday.
While Karachi escapes the brunt of the heatwave, temperatures in several interior districts are forecast to rise significantly above seasonal norms.
The districts expected to be most affected include Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Naushero Feroze, Larkana, Sukkur, Jamshoro, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad and Badin.
In these areas, temperatures may climb 6 to 8 degrees above average.
Meanwhile, Tharparkar, Umerkot and Mirpurkhas are expected to record increases of 4 to 6 degrees above normal highs.
The Meteorological Department has urged residents across the affected regions to take precautionary measures and stay hydrated during peak afternoon hours.
The elevated temperatures are likely to persist until early next week.
