
Internationally acclaimed Pakistani chef Zakir Hussain passed away in Karachi on Monday at the age of 58, his family confirmed. According to relatives, Chef Zakir had been suffering from kidney-related illness for some time and was undergoing regular dialysis.
His nephew, Shayan, said that he had been receiving medical treatment in the United States but returned to Pakistan a month ago after doctors deemed his condition beyond recovery, Express News reported.
Hussain was a household name in Pakistan, known for his culinary expertise and long-standing television presence. Over the years, he gained immense popularity for simplifying traditional Pakistani recipes and inspiring home cooks nationwide.
The family announced that his funeral prayers will be held on Tuesday after Asr prayers at Jamia Rashidia in Saudabad, Karachi. Fans, fellow chefs, and the hospitality community have expressed deep sorrow at his passing, remembering him as a pioneer who brought professional cooking into the spotlight in Pakistan.
