The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has finalised arrangements for a major public gathering to be held at Hattri Ground, Hyderabad, on April 18. The preparations were reviewed during a key meeting chaired by senior PPP leader Faryal Talpur at her residence, according to a statement issued by the party.

During the meeting, party leaders reviewed detailed logistical and administrative preparations for the Hyderabad Division rally, which is expected to draw a large number of participants. It was confirmed that the rally will commence at 6 pm on April 18, under the leadership of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Addressing the attendees, Talpur described the event as a “public referendum” against controversial development projects on the Indus River. She reiterated the PPP’s firm stance against any attempt to divert the river’s waters, calling the Indus the "lifeline of Sindh."

“If the water of the Indus River is diverted, Sindh will become barren,” she warned. “We reject any form of engineering on the river and demand that water distribution be carried out transparently, as per the 1991 agreement.”

Talpur stressed that the people of Sindh, particularly the youth, stand united with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in defending the province’s water rights.

The meeting was attended by a number of prominent party leaders, including Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, PPP central leader Makhdoom Jamil-uz-Zaman, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Provincial Ministers Ali Hassan Zardari and Muhammad Ali Malkani, and Special Assistant Qasim Naveed Qamar. Other notable attendees included Sohail Anwar Sial, Rafiq Ahmed Jamali, Shafqat Shah Sherazi, Riaz Shah Sherazi, Sikandar Shoro, Pir Mujeeb, and Rawal Sharjeel Memon.
