A traffic accident on Multan Road near Sundar police station claimed three lives, including two women, after a speeding minitruck rammed into a motorcycle rickshaw from behind.
According to the police, the rickshaw carrying five passengers was struck with such force that three occupants died instantly, while another suffered severe injuries.
The deceased were identified as Tayyaba Ashraf and Mumtaz Jameel, residents of Sundar village, along with the rickshaw driver Allah Ditta from Bahawalnagar.
Rescue teams transported the bodies to a morgue via Edhi ambulances as police initiated legal proceedings.
Preliminary investigations suggest the minitruck driver lost control of his vehicle, though authorities are examining whether mechanical failure or reckless driving caused the collision.
"This devastating accident highlights the dangers of overloading and speeding on our roads," said a traffic police official, noting that both vehicles have been impounded for forensic examination. The injured victim remains hospitalised in critical condition.
