A severe heatwave has gripped Sindh, with temperatures expected to rise significantly above normal, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a heatwave alert.

From today, due to atmospheric pressure, rural districts of Sindh, including Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Larkana, Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Hyderabad, are likely to experience temperatures 6 to 8 degrees higher than the seasonal average.

The heatwave is expected to persist until April 18th. In Karachi, strong winds are anticipated to blow on Sunday and Monday, with the temperature today reaching a maximum of 38.9°C, and humidity levels at 42%. Due to high humidity, the heat index has made the conditions feel like 42°C. In rural Sindh, the temperatures in Dadu and Hyderabad airports were recorded at 43°C.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this extreme weather.
