The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday granted two weeks' time to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan to present his arguments in the intra-party election case.
A five-member ECP bench, headed by the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, heard the petition against the PTI's Intra-party election. Both the petitioner Akbar S Babar, and Barrister Gohar appeared before the bench.
At the outset of the hearing, the CEC asked Barrister Gohar to begin presenting his arguments. In response, the PTI chairman said that, although he had submitted the high court's orders, he was unable to bring the case-related documents. He requested the bench to grant him additional time to prepare and present his arguments.
The CEC remarked that the case had been pending for over a year, adding that while the high court had stayed the announcement of the verdict, it had not barred the continuation of proceedings. Nevertheless, the bench adjourned the hearing until April 22.
