ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Friday held a detailed meeting with Belarusian Minister of Transport and Communications Alexei Lyakhnovich, discussing bilateral cooperation, key economic matters, and trade affairs.

During the meeting, both sides emphasised the need to advance ongoing projects related to road connectivity between the two countries. It was highlighted that improving connectivity would not only enhance bilateral trade but also provide Pakistan with greater access to Central Asia and Europe, according to a press release.

Aleem Khan stated that Belarus holds a significant geographical position in the region for trade, and Pakistan, particularly in the communications sector, aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation. He added that his delegation's visit to Belarus had been highly productive and would prove mutually beneficial for both nations.

Aleem Khan expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Belarus later this month would further cement these ties. The federal minister also invited the Belarusian Minister of Transport to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan's communications sector, particularly in motorway infrastructure.

Lyakhnovich warmly welcomed the Pakistani minister and his delegation, assuring them of Belarus' commitment to expanding cooperation across various sectors.

During a ministerial session, Aleem Khan underscored the importance of increasing collaboration between the two countries. He noted that high-level visits by the leadership of both nations would play a crucial role in accelerating development in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Aleem Khan, along with the Pakistani delegation, visited a renowned tractor manufacturing plant in Minsk, Belarus. The delegation was informed that the plant, operational for 75 years, produces over 62 models of tractors and vehicles. It employs more than 20,000 workers and has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tractors. Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Romania, Kazakhstan, Russia, Lithuania, and Pakistan are among the plant's main importers.

Aleem Khan expressed keen interest in the Belarusian tractor plant, praising its environmentally friendly operations and advanced technology. He stated that Pakistan is eager to establish a similar tractor manufacturing facility and could greatly benefit from Belarus' expertise in the field.
