LODHRAN:

A violent clash between close relatives over a land pathway dispute in the Kundi Balochan area of Thana City turned deadly, claiming the life of an Intermediate student and injuring seven others, including his father.

According to police sources, the confrontation erupted when two groups of relatives engaged in an armed altercation over a blocked pathway.

Police said Waqas, 18, the only brother of eight sisters, was shot dead, while his father, Ranjha, and six others sustained serious injuries.

Reports indicate that the opposing group also suffered injuries, with a woman among the wounded.

As per the FIR, Ranjha, son of Muhammad Ramzan, stated that he was a farmer residing in Mouza Kundi.

He mentioned that his two daughters had been married into the accused family—Rukhsana Bibi to Kamal, son of Ghulam Hussain, and Rehana Bibi to Iqbal, son of Ghulam Hussain.

Due to ongoing domestic disputes, their in-laws had allegedly threatened to kill Waqas if he interfered in family matters.

The complaint further revealed that the in-laws had assaulted and expelled both sisters from their home, warning that if their brother ever set foot on the disputed land, he would be murdered.

The situation escalated when, around 4:30 PM, the accused allegedly plowed the disputed land—which was jointly owned and used for livestock grazing—using a tractor.

As Waqas and his family tried to intervene, Sajid, allegedly fired directly at Waqas, fatally wounding him. When Ranjha stepped forward, Rashid, son of Ghulam Hussain, opened fire, injuring him in the arm.

Police sources said the immediate trigger for the violence was Waqas' recent demolition of a disputed pathway on the shared land, which provoked the suspects to retaliate by ploughing the area, leading to the deadly confrontation.

Following the incident, police transferred Waqas' body and the injured victims to the District Headquarters Hospital and initiated legal proceedings.
