Presiding over a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to take effective measures to reduce poultry prices.

She said the citizens had given a very positive response over the Ramazan Nigahban Package, under which 2.564 million households has received cheques.

"I felt pleased that the federation and other provinces followed Punjab's Ramazan Nigahban package," she added.

The chief minister said 1.5 million families would soon receive Ration cards.

She ordered strict actions to control the prices of food items on Eid. "For the first time, the prices had remained under control in Ramazan, there were no queues nor any panic," congratulating the relevant team for "organising the cheapest Ramazan bazaars in the last 15 years".

The cabinet approved the facility of free travel for differently-abled people, senior citizens and students in the province. It reviewed a proposal to issue transport cards for the students. It also approved an agreement with the World Bank for a grading system for students.

The cabinet approved the establishment of special investigation units for sexual crimes as the chief minister called for measures to prevent rape incidents. "One feels ashamed after hearing about the incidents of molestation and rape," she lamented.

The cabinet also reviewed a proposal to launch a Punjab airline service and decided in principle to build airports in Bhakkar and Bahawalnagar, Funds were approved for the construction of a landing strip for the air ambulance service in Bhakkar district.

The chief minister sought a plan for legal reforms. She said that as soon as her government came to power, a list of recommendations had been submitted to her but none of them had been implemented.

The provincial cabinet increased the penalties for violation of the Punjab Fertiliser Control Act and Arms Ordinance.

Fees of the birth and death registration certificates were waived for a year.

The cabinet approved amendments to the relevant rules to ensure free legal aid to the poor and deserving persons.

The chief minister rejected a proposal to ban cultivation of two crops of rice annually in Punjab.

The cabinet approved proposals for employing 664 visually impaired persons on daily wages and improve their social inclusion.

Approval was given for the creation of 3,904 posts in the Punjab Crime Control Department.

The cabinet approved the establishment of 2,000-strong Riot Management Police along with provision of resources to the crime control department to deal with riots.

Approval was given for the establishment of a small industry estate and mineral processing unit in the Salt Range. The CM said pink salt belongs to Pakistan, but other countries are benefiting by packing it. The cabinet also approved the acquisition of strategic land for iron ore mining and processing in Chiniot.

Permission was given to take a grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the promotion of child healthcare in South Punjab, for paediatric specialties at Children's Hospital in Multan and a project on sustainable pasture and livestock management against land degradation in north Punjab in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).

The cabinet approved foreign direct investment for a multi-fuel bio-refinery.

Amendments to the Punjab Police Rules 1934 regarding digitisation of FIR, journal and case diary, as well as replacement of jammer vehicles for VIP duties were also approved.

The cabinet approved a change in the method of distribution of funds under the Ramazan Nigahban Package 2025.

Return of protected forest land from the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) was approved.

The cabinet approved a proposal to make licensing of service providers for provincial government institutions subject to registration with the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA).

A project for lining of watercourses in Cholistan under the Green Pakistan Initiative was also approved along with renaming of the Cholistan Canal System to Mahfooz Shaheed Canal System. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said during the meeting, "We are not taking water from any province."
