Logan Paul is shedding light on his turbulent past with brother Jake Paul in their new reality docuseries Paul American, which premiered March 27 on Max. The show revisits their YouTube dominance and personal conflicts, including a lucrative year that defined their online careers.
“After three years of living in Los Angeles, Logan and I became the biggest daily vloggers on YouTube,” Jake said in the premiere. Logan followed with a striking revelation about the financial scale of their 2017 success, stating, “We grossed 50 million dollars in 2017. 50 f—ing million dollars.”
The Paul brothers rose from Vine fame to YouTube stardom after moving to Los Angeles from Ohio. But their success also sparked competition that soon turned personal. “At some point, we started talking about who gets more views, who gets more subscribers,” Jake said. “And then it manifested into this real life thing.”
The tension escalated in 2017 when Logan dropped a diss track titled “The Fall of Jake Paul,” featuring Jake’s ex-girlfriend Alissa Violet. The track quickly became Logan’s most viewed video. “I’m not proud to say this, but my diss track on my brother is my most viewed video of all-time,” he admitted.
Their parents, Greg Paul and Pam Stepnick, also appear in the episode. Pam criticised the public feud, saying, “I was calling, mostly going after Logan. Because he’s the older brother, you’re supposed to be taking care of your younger brother.”
Reflecting on his past, Logan concluded, “I look back on it now and I’m ashamed. I’m truly ashamed of whatever version of myself that was.”
Paul American offers an intimate look at internet fame, sibling rivalry, and the personal toll of sudden success. New episodes air every Thursday on Max.
