KARACHI: At least 100 people were taken into custody in a joint search operation conducted by police and Rangers in Karachi on Friday.

The operation was conducted in the areas of Baldia Town, Mawacha Goth and Saeedabad.

Police and Rangers also seized drugs and ammunition during the raid.

The entry and exit points of these areas were closed until the completion of the operation.

Ambulances carrying the wounded to hospitals were also thoroughly searched.

In ongoing political efforts to curb the violence, the government is working on a plan to draw a clear line between ‘violent and non-violent forces’ to restore peace in Karachi.

“It’s time for political parties to clarify their position that there is no motive behind the violence in Karachi or in Quetta,” said Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
