MS Dhoni’s lightning-fast reflexes behind the stumps once again stunned the cricketing world as the 43-year-old pulled off a stumping in just 0.12 seconds during Chennai Super Kings’ IPL match against Mumbai Indians.
The former Indian captain, long regarded as one of the sharpest wicketkeepers in the game, rolled back the years to dismiss Suryakumar Yadav off Noor Ahmad’s delivery.
Dhoni’s agility drew praise from former Australian opener Matthew Hayden, who lauded his impeccable skills despite stepping away from international cricket five years ago.
“He was on fire,” Hayden said after the game. “Noor Ahmad was firing down the leg side, and it was just a movement across the ball. The stumping was superb—such quick timing, great hands, good vision. He’s still got it.”
The dismissal proved crucial, breaking a 51-run partnership and helping CSK restrict MI to 155/9. CSK chased down the target with four wickets and five balls to spare.
Noor Ahmad credited Dhoni for his guidance, calling it a "great support" to have the veteran behind the stumps. Piyush Chawla, a former CSK spinner, noted that Dhoni’s pre-season work with Noor likely played a role in executing the stumping with such precision.
Fans were quick to celebrate Dhoni’s brilliance, with social media erupting over the 0.12-second stumping. At 43, Dhoni continues to prove why he remains a master behind the stumps.
