The special guest for the Pakistan Day event was President Asif Ali Zardari, who inspected the parade and was saluted by the military personnel.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Minister, and heads of the armed forces were also present on the stage during the ceremony.

The day marks the anniversary of the Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940, which laid the foundation for a separate homeland for Muslims of the Subcontinent.

Celebrations began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered after Fajr for the nation’s progress and prosperity.
