Cement mixer torched after fatal accident

Three people died in separate accidents involving heavy vehicles in Liaquatabad, Gulistan-e-Johar, and Keamari

People torched a cement mixer and attacked other heavy vehicles in Gulistan-e-Johar after a biker was crushed under a cement mixer vehicle late on Thursday night.

Three people died in separate accidents involving heavy vehicles in Liaquatabad, Gulistan-e-Johar, and Keamari within an hour, between Thursday night and Friday.

In Gulistan-e-Johar, a concrete mixer ran over a motorcycle near Perfume Chowk, killing 25-year-old Abdul Saboor and injuring another person, Shayan. Eyewitnesses reported that the victims fell when their motorcycle was hit by a minivan, the riders were skiding on the road when a cement mixer drove over one of them crusshing Abdul Saboor's head under its heavy tyres. The driver attempted to flee but was caught by locals and taken into custody by the police. The driver and the vehicle were moved to the Sharae Faisal police station.

Following the incident, enraged citizens stopped another mixer, forced the driver out and set it on fire. They also pelted stones at trucks and other heavy vehicles plying on the road. The police closed the road from Johar Chowrangi to Johar Morr for traffic due to the agitation.

In Liaquatabad, a 22-wheeler trailer collided with a motorcycle near Sindh government hospital, resulting in the death of 45-year-old Haider Ali Qureshi who was returning home after work when the trailer ran him over. The police arrested the trailer driver and the victim's body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). Further, in Keamari, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a vehicle near the W-11 minibus stop. The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Naeem, and his body was shifted to the civil hospital.
