Babar Azam’s struggles against spin continued in a practice match ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand, but not before the star batter produced a well-crafted 106-run innings.
Under pressure to deliver after being left out of the T20I squad, Babar made a strong statement with the bat, spending valuable time at the crease and finding rhythm before eventually falling to an off-break delivery.
Earlier in the week, Babar faced difficulties in a net session where a net bowler trapped him leg-before with a sharp turner. His recent performances, including a modest 22-run knock in the National T20 Cup, had drawn scrutiny, particularly over his strike rate.
However, his century in the practice scenario match signals a potential return to form as he prepares for the upcoming ODI series.
Babar also worked on expanding his shot selection in the nets, looking to add aggressive strokes to his game. He played a variety of shots against both pace and spin en route to his 106 runs scored.
Alongside him, Mohammad Rizwan, another key player omitted from the T20Is, will return for the ODIs as Pakistan aims to bounce back in the 50-over format.
