K-P to ban crane hunting with firearms

In the future, the government will only issue licenses to those who hunt cranes using traditional methods

Special Assistant to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Wildlife, Pir Musavir Khan has said that all necessary steps will be taken to protect the endangered Siberian cranes, including introducing legislation to ban hunting with shotguns and automatic weapons.

Special Assistant and the Secretary of Wildlife met with a delegation from the Crane Union of the southern districts, led by Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Malik Pakhtoon Yar Khan.

During the meeting, the delegation discussed matters related to crane hunting, the issuance of licenses, and other issues.

The provincial minister announced that the government would amend the rules to strictly prohibit crane hunting with shotguns and automatic weapons. A formal case will be registered under relevant laws against those violating the ban.

In the future, the government will only issue licenses to those who hunt cranes using traditional methods, and the rules will be amended accordingly.
