A family court in India's Mumbai on Thursday granted a mutual consent divorce to Indian Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma.

The couple, who had been married since December 2020, had initially filed for divorce in February 2024, seeking to dissolve their marriage after living separately for over two and a half years.

"Divorce has been granted. The marriage has been dissolved. They are no longer husband and wife. The petition for divorce by mutual consent has been accepted," Chahal’s lawyer confirmed to Indian media.

Earlier this week, the Bombay High Court allowed the couple’s request to waive the statutory six-month cooling-off period typically required under the Hindu Marriage Act.

The court expedited the process, noting Chahal’s upcoming commitments in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chahal was recently picked by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR18 crore in the 2025 IPL auction.

Justice Madhav Jamdar, who led the bench, acknowledged that the couple had complied with the terms of their mediation, including the payment of alimony. As per the agreement, Chahal is to pay INR4.75 crore in alimony, of which INR2.37 crore has been paid. The remaining amount will be settled following the divorce decree.

In recent weeks, Chahal has been linked with social media star RJ Mahvash after being spotted together at the Champions Trophy Final. Despite circulating rumors, Mahvash dismissed the speculation in an Instagram post, emphasizing that public appearances do not equate to romantic involvement.

"I have been patient for 2-3 days now, but I won't let any PR teams drag my name into this to cover up other people's images," Mahvash wrote, calling for privacy and peace amidst the ongoing rumors.
