Trailer's out for Celine Song's 'Materialists',starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal

The romantic comedy Materialists, starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, hits theaters June 13.

A24 has released the official trailer for Materialists, the highly anticipated romantic comedy from director Celine Song.

Written, directed, and produced by Song, the film follows an ambitious New York City matchmaker who faces a dilemma between her perfect match and her imperfect ex. Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal lead the cast in Song’s follow-up to her acclaimed Oscar-nominated debut, Past Lives.

Filming for Materialists began in April 2024 and wrapped in June of the same year in New York City. In addition to Johnson, Evans, and Pascal, the cast includes Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Sawyer Spielberg. Producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films, along with David Hinojosa of 2AM, are behind the project. A24 will handle the U.S. release, while Sony Pictures has acquired international distribution rights.

Song’s debut feature, Past Lives, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and garnered significant critical acclaim. The film, which explores the emotional journey of two childhood friends over the course of 24 years, earned more than $42 million globally and appeared on numerous “best of” lists. Variety’s Peter Debruge praised Song’s deeply personal and universally resonant storytelling, describing the film as "a treasure."

Past Lives also received two Academy Award nominations, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture, as well as five Golden Globe nominations and three BAFTA Film Award nominations.

Materialists is set to hit theaters on June 13, 2025. Fans of Song’s work can expect another heartfelt exploration of love and relationships with this new project.
