LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered free treatment of students found suffering from various ailments after the health screening of 40,000 differently-abled children across the province.

She was informed in a briefing that a facial registration system had been introduced for students' attendance for the first time in the province. The CM approved the Special People Employment Programme and a plan to launch a 'Rising Star Card' and packed meal programe for special children. The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz 'Eidi Program' has also been approved for them.

The CM also approved the allocation of nine electric buses for the differently-abled children and called for a performance audit after every six months of special education centres.

She directed the special assistant to chief minister (SACM) to maintain constant contact with the parents of special children. More cameras will be installed in schools and buses for children with special needs.

On the direction of CM Maryam Nawaz, 'ring fencing' of the special education budget has been done for the first time. She issued directive for steps to create an external examination system for the special children.
