Daddy Yankee has taken legal action against his ex-wife, Mireddys González, and her sister, Ayeicha Gonzalez Castellanos, filing a $250 million lawsuit that accuses them of financial mismanagement and defamation.
The legal battle marks a dramatic turn in the former couple’s nearly three-decade-long relationship, which had long been seen as one of reggaeton’s most stable marriages.
The Puerto Rican superstar, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, alleges that González and her sister mishandled two of his business ventures, causing him significant financial losses.
According to court documents, “Mireddys and Ayeicha Gonzalez Castellanos continued to assume greater power than was permitted and together made reckless and selfish decisions that were detrimental to both the companies and Mr. Ayala Rodriguez (Daddy Yankee).”
Beyond financial mismanagement, the lawsuit also claims that the two orchestrated a campaign to damage Daddy Yankee’s reputation, adding further tension to an already bitter split.
Following news of the lawsuit, González, a well-known entrepreneur and the mother of two of Daddy Yankee’s children, took to social media with cryptic posts. Without directly addressing the allegations, she shared biblical quotes and messages that hinted at her perspective on the situation.
One post read, “Stop having empathy for people who treat you badly,” while another stated, “Emotional attachment is a prison for the soul; it makes you see virtues that do not exist and hopes where there are none.”
The former couple officially finalized their divorce on February 18 in a virtual court session, avoiding a face-to-face confrontation. Daddy Yankee and González had been married since 1995, long before he became a global sensation with his breakthrough hit “Gasolina.” Their marriage was often viewed as a strong partnership, with González frequently managing aspects of his business ventures.
However, this lawsuit paints a starkly different picture, exposing deep conflicts and allegations that could redefine the narrative of their decades-long relationship.
