The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a stay order, barring the High- Powered Selection Board (HPSB) from proceeding with promotions of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers from Grade 21 to Grade 22 until the next hearing.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, while hearing a petition filed by FBR officer Shah Bano, directed that the HPSB must not convene for the promotion of FBR officers before March 12.
The court directed that the relevant FBR officials be immediately informed of the order via telephone, ensuring they are aware of the legal proceedings before the official document is signed.
The IHC has sought affidavits from the FBR chairman and the secretary to the prime minister. The FBR chairman must confirm that no summary regarding the petitioner's placement in the administrative pool has been forwarded, while the secretary to the premier must affirm that no such summary has been received from the FBR chairman.
The court warned that if the affidavits are not submitted the relevant summary must be placed on record before the next hearing.
Shah Bano had approached the IHC to have her name included in the HPSB's consideration for promotion to Grade 22 from Grade 21.
