Karachi’s temperature recorded a substantial dip of 6.3°C below the usual March average, as the city continues to experience dry and cool conditions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The average temperature for March typically hovers around 19.4°C, but the minimum temperature recorded last night was 13.1°C, well below the norm for the month.
The city is grappling with extremely dry weather, with humidity levels falling to just 13%.
Light dry winds are blowing from the northeast at a slow pace. The maximum temperature today is expected to reach between 30°C and 31°C, with the dry conditions likely to persist for the next 24 hours.
PMD reports that night-time temperatures across Karachi’s various areas were also lower than usual. Mauripur recorded the lowest temperature at 10°C, followed by Jinnah Terminal at 11.5°C, Port Qasim at 13.6°C, Gulistan-e-Johar at 13.2°C, and Sharea Faisal at 12.5°C.

Other locations such as Mithi, Mirpurkhas, and Chhor saw temperatures of 3.5°C and 7°C, while Sukkur, Sakrand, and Paddidan reported temperatures of 7.5°C.
As the province continues to experience these unseasonably cold conditions, the PMD has predicted that similar weather patterns may persist in the coming days.
Moreover, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is also experiencing cold and dry weather across most districts, with the plains expected to see dense fog in certain areas.
According to the PMD, Peshawar recorded a temperature of 8°C, while the mountainous regions are experiencing severe cold.

The department forecasts that the cold and dry weather will persist for the next few days, with the possibility of fog in some parts of the plains. The severe cold in the northern regions is expected to continue, with no significant change in temperatures.
