PTI founding chairman Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, has asserted that the incarcerated leader remains steadfast, refusing to cut a deal at any cost.
"They can do whatever they want, but I will not make any deal," she quoted the PTI supremo as saying after meeting Imran and his spouse Bushra Bibi on Tuesday.
Brushing aside health concerns, she confirmed that the couple appeared completely healthy and in good spirits.
"There is no issue with his ears or any other illness. Social media is filled with baseless speculation," she said, adding that those spreading the rumours should be asked about their sources. "Now they are saying he has a brain infection and isn't allowed to meet his personal physician or talk to his children."
She also mentioned that lawyer Salman Akram Raja has been assigned responsibility for handling Imran's personal petitions.
Discussing the Al-Qadir Trust case, Aleema said a decision could be expected within a week. "A special individual named Dogar has been brought in to block the appeal. All of this is being done to pressure Imran," she claimed.
She further stated that Imran Khan disapproved of renaming Arbab Niaz Stadium after himself. "He said the stadium should keep its original name."
Meanwhile, PTI's lead counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar, accused the government of deliberately prolonging Imran and Bushra Bibi's cases.
"Initially, they treated it like a T20 match. Then they switched to a one-day format for the Al-Qadir case. Now they have adopted a Test match strategy, extending hearing dates indefinitely," he said.
He expressed doubt that any hearings would take place in Adiala Jail during Ramazan. "We are not asking for bail; we want decisions based on merit. The chief justice must prioritise Imran Khan's cases," he insisted.
"There is no shortage of judges anymore, so there is no excuse for delays. We will keep filing requests for urgent hearings."
He further claimed that most cases against Imran and Bushra Bibi had collapsed. "If hearings were scheduled as per our preference, the remaining two cases would also be wrapped up in days," he added.
